You've heard of singing for your dinner? Now you can sing for a hotel upgrade. In the spirit of American Idol, Joie de Vivre Hotels has kicked off a new program where guests can receive a free upgrade by belting out their favorite tune. Instead of hearing, “You’re going to Hollywood,” they’ll hear, “You’re getting an upgrade.”
Emma Haber of Blink LA, the public relations agency for Joie de Vivire says, "It's a great example of the unique ways that hotels are incentivizing guests to come for a stay. Joie de Vivre is encouraging guests to celebrate the joy of life through song and rewarding the vocal talents of its Southern California hotel guests."
The following Joie de Vivre properties are participating in the program: Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach, Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach, and Hotel Angeleno in Los Angeles. Each hotel will offer a variety of songs – from “California Gurls” by Katy Perry to “Hotel California” by The Eagles – selected to reflect the personality of the property for guests to sing.
The first guest to sing a song will get the prize for the day, and their performance will be captured on video and uploaded to YouTube and Facebook for the chance to win a two-night stay at each Southern California hotel, based on the number of votes the video gets. If the upgrade has already been redeemed for the day, guests will still be eligible to enter the video contest by singing and will have the chance to win the grand prize, which will be awarded in October. Promotion ends September 30, 2011.
Kids will love the chance to show their stuff by taking the microphone and letting their talent shine. Families can share their singing vacation by forwarding the YouTube link to their audition. It's a fun and unique way to kick-off a summer vacation.
